SONNET  (II)

DIVORCE

When in a busy day odd moments bring
A glimpse of unmasked sensuality
Insurgent thoughts, untamed by absence, cling
Against the pull of cold reality.
Then with the night, come images to set
The knell of slumber tolling in my mind;
To coil the spring of loneliness and let
A caravan of memories unwind.
From brittle bonds of marriage you escaped
Leaving behind redundant words to fill
The void of love’s abandoned shibboleth.
Though in the alb of dissolution draped
The remnants of our joy has power still
To steel my loins and cheat its ghost of death.
