Sites . . including a portal link to ALL 520 churches in the East Yorkshire area.

A Brief History . . of Sutton St James . . by Merrill
Rhodes.
Family History . . a couple of pages crammed full of links, plus advice on how to use the Sutton Resources in the Old School Exhibition, and how to contact us for further information. This page also leads to a further page with a brief 'topographical description' of the Sutton area and its relationship to the River Hull.
If you would really like to help with some local enquiries, here is a New Page, as of Feb 2003, summarising some name and place requests we receive both via the Guestbook, and by email. We've replied to these with what info we have or could dig up, but you may see a name you're looking for, or a place you know something about, of be just happy to help in some way.
A Map .. . of the general area, showing Sutton and Wawne's relationship to Hull, Cottingham, and Beverley, and for those who don't know this area at all, many of the other nearby villages and hamlets. It's from about 1968, and loads in a new window, nearly full-screen.
Other Suttons .. a page of external links to other places called Sutton, in the UK and abroad.
F/Lt Paterson C Hughes DFC .. a direct page to the Battle of Britain pilot buried in Sutton churchyard.
RAF Sutton on Hull .. a direct page to our RAF station, home of the 17 Balloon Centre
1939 - 1945, and later the Firefighting School, as well as several other units from time to time.
Wawne Primary School .. a small page of information, a few photos, and link to the main school site, etc.
Pictures and Illustrations . . just a few, with a link to a further page of pics,
called Sutton Gallery 1. It's hoped to soon do one for Wawne.
Sutton and Wawne War Memorials . . A Roll of Honour . . all names, both World Wars, and includes Stoneferry and St Marks in The Groves. It also includes further links to pages listing details of the War Graves within the churchyard, and we've started to put up some brief biographies of men lost, along with photos, details, etc, submitted by their families. Also, direct links to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, and the Civilian War Dead index for Hull.
A Help Page . . for all us novices to Websites and
computers in general . . a few tips and tricks to impress
your kids and grandkids . . no kiddin'.
A Test Page . . this was originally used as a page
to test layout, but I've left it in as it has just a really good quality picture of St James, nothing else . . it may contain
other pics or ideas from time to time. For now, it
contains the full address of the site and so can be used
to send just a framed pic of St James by email to
relatives abroad. They can click on the link and load the
whole thing if they wish. Despite its size (some 275Kb .. a good file size for a pic ), It should load abroad complete with background graphics as well. Tell me if it doesn't . On smaller machines, with less power or memory, the whole pic will take a minute or so to load. It'll take a while to send as well, so be patient. Go and make a cup of tea while it goes down the wire.
