WELCOME TO OUR WEB PAGES

may we extend a Warm Welcome . .

. . to you all, and especially to all those
ex-Sutton & Wawne folk who
may have long since left these 'gentle climes'
for other abodes in the far corners of this globe.

For all those who were born and worshipped here,
were married here, or have loved ones resting here . .
to you all, an especially warm welcome indeed.
We're pleased you have discovered us . .
do enjoy . . .

If you click the music button, in the Menu Bar
on the left, you can hear a short peal of Sutton's bells.
They were added at Christmas, 2003.

Photos of all 13 War Graves in St James' churchyard
are now posted on the appropriate page.
This was finally fulfilled in time for Armistice Day, 2009.

May you all enjoy your visit
and brief stay with us.
We hope you will call again.

Church Street, Sutton on Hull, towards the station, showing the old 'Poor Houses', long since demolished Church Street, Sutton on Hull, and St James', 'we dooan't get weather like this anymooare'

These atmospheric photos were taken in the 50's and 60's.
The one of the Poor Houses shows a snowstorm
receding over Sutton towards Noddle Hill.
To see if our area is going to get this weather anytime soon,
see the weather forecast below.

This Home Page
now has a dedicated web address, or URL for short.

The old address will still always work,
but this one may be easier to

It Pays to be Humble ....

Many a famous man has found,
When he has gained the top,
That someone pushed him from below --
Yes, pushed -- and wouldn't stop.
That greatness of his splendid life
Was really fashioned by his wife.

Now here's a more serious thought . . .

What if .....

Just suppose, what if ...

Heaven Help Us .... but just imagine, what if ....

sometime in the future, what if it became illegal in the UK ...

to be a Christian.

A terrible thought ... but it already is in some parts of the world,

and has been for many centuries.

If that were to happen here ..... yes, here in England . . .

. . . would there be enough material, or evidence,
in your house to convict you ?

Just a thought .....

of HullWebs, a site dedicated to local history.
It is their sponsorship that enables us to be known by
our www.sutton-on-hull.co.uk address rather than a private address
that would not be recognisable as having any connection with Sutton.

Thank you Alan B .... your continued support is greatly appreciated.
