MYSTERY PICS

Back . .

If anyone any ideas on any of the pics below, to help with identification,
please do
email us . . .

Photographs Already Identified now have a separate page ..

None of these excellent photographs could have been taken after 1900 . .
the photographer, Charles Cusworth, was in the US by then.

So where are these places . . . ? They're all in England . . somewhere . .

Hit F11 to see photo full-screen.

Click the image in the middle for an enlarged version showing more detail;

where IS this ? . . . is this a school uniform . . ?
We know this on the Trent, at Twyford ferry, about 1898-9.
But does the boy in the middle wear a school uniform and boater ?
We thought at first it may have been a Repton uniform . . but it's been verified that it's not.
So, what other schools were in the area ?

could this be the gates to a school ?
Could this be the gates of the school the young man in the trap attends ?
Or just a country house . . ? But note the mortar-board cap . .
It could be his school .. but we're told it's not Repton.

Little Eaton, at Mill Green
Yes, it is Little Eaton . . on the north side of the village, at Mill Green,
going out towards Coxbench. And it is the Bottle Brook.
Another wonderful study in social history .. look at those little children.
Thanks Andy . ..

where in LEYTON is this ? Is this lane still there ?
The caption on this picture says Leytonstone, Essex . . but
Where in LEYTONSTONE is this ? Is this idyllic lane still there ?
Again, it was taken well before 1900.

Now to a church . .

where IS this ?
Anyone recognise this smart church .. it doesn't look like a village church to me ?
Could this be in East London. Or a little further out, into Essex.
Again, taken prior to 1899.
I've given up on this one now . .
We have the EAST of LONDON FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY on the case,
and are hoping for an arrest shortly.

Another London photo perhaps ?

where IS this ?
Anyone recognise these flats, smart appartments in their day.
Could this also be East London, prior to 1899.
Note the flat-top roofs and bay windows . .
Are they still as smart, are they still there, or perhaps bombed during the war?

Photographs Already Identified now have a separate page ..

We'll soon have some more mystery photos from the 1899-1900 period
for your expert opinion.

Many thanks for your help
