FAMILY HISTORY
RESEARCH GROUP

The Family History Research Group
The Club House, Garden Village Oval

A research group aimed at the over-50s,
though available to all age groups of course
runs within the Clubhouse each autumn to spring season
to help folk get into their own family history using
internet resources and computer technology.
Our aim is to help our more senior residents
feel comfortable in using computers.

Our computer suite has access to Ancestry records as well
as the usual birth, marriage and death indexes;
all censuses up to 1911; WW1 military records, etc., plus
warships, troopers, convoys, trawlers, regiments and squadrons.

Full world-wide internet access; research Old Maps and
a wide range of general history information, even tuition on
'restoring' old or damaged family photos.

We also supply the family history programme 'GRAMPS',
downloadable free from the internet, but we have copies
to give away to anyone who wants to bring a stick or card.

There are helpers on hand to give guidance wherever required,
whether with family history resources or just general computer use.

Novice or more experienced computer users very welcome,
and when explaining computer usage to new starters,
we have all the time in the world.
Even if you have never used a computer before,
even if your fingers are not as dextorous as they used to be,
nothing is too much trouble.
We all had to start somewhere.

And this is the place to do it!!

We're a friendly group that assist and help each other.
We can help you build your family tree.

Tuesday afternoons: 1:30 to 3:30
£2.50 per session
with tea or coffee served
timing aimed for those with 'school runs', etc

The Group restarted on May 3rd for
the 2022 Spring and Autumn season.
We usually take a break mid-summer for hols.
